An Official Partnership w/ Aptos High School, The Future, and $$$$.
I have some exciting news for you all and in this blog post, we will discuss what that means for the future of B4A.
In the last blog post, I discussed new growth opportunities B4A has come across due to our new publicity. One of those opportunities, a local nonprofit partnership, the community bike collective, has been threaded out. On Feb 4th, the community bike collective held a repair event in which over 20 Aptos High School volunteers showed up to contribute their time to our cause. The event was amazing and many folks found it very fulfilling—just what we were looking for. In addition, our volunteers repaired over 40 bikes, all going to people who need them. We will notify volunteers of any future events later this month.
So what is this official partnership about?
Well, after an extensive series of discussions with AHS staff and Dr. Alison Hanks Sloan (Principal), Aptos High will be assisting B4A as a host site of operations. What does this mean? To answer this question, I'll have to remind you what B4A's underlying goal is: to impact the community by fostering creativity and contribution through high school students. Aptos High being a host site allows us to continue striving for our goal.
Aptos High will host bike repair events overseen by the B4A nonprofit. These events will be at Aptos High's Saturday Schools (listed below):
April 13, 9am-1pm
May 4, 9am-1pm
During these events, Aptos students will be able to assist B4A in repairing events. In turn, students may choose to get attendance cleared or community service hours. We encourage all of you to participate (while spots are still available).
In addition, if you are interested in donating bikes, you may do so during these events. Make sure to submit your request on our website.
What does this mean for the future of B4A?
This news is amazing for the future of B4A. It will allow the senior officers of B4A to move on to college knowing that B4A will continue striving regardless.
And the $$$?
We hope that this partnership will increase our funding, however, we know that our goals are far too large to simply be reached by a partnership with a high school. This is why we ask you readers and volunteers to take the time and donate whatever you can, now more than ever.
Your donations help fund things like:
Parts & Tools
This Website!
Repair Events
Transportation
Even $5 helps, take the time to donate because your donation will truly have an impact!
